About the Assembly Elections

Our electoral roll is exactly that – ours. It’s made by First Peoples for First Peoples and is completely independent from government.

You can enrol with the Assembly if you are a Traditional Owner of Country in Victoria (living either in Victoria or interstate) or an Aboriginal and/or Torres Strait Islander person who has lived in Victoria for at least three of the last five years, and are 16 years old or over.

You can vote for candidates in the region where you live.

Share with your Mob

If you’re already enrolled, encourage more of your mob to enrol. If everyone enrolled with the Assembly encourages just one friend to enrol, we can double our strength by doubling our electoral roll and send a clear message to the Government that we mean business.

Since 2019, the First Peoples’ Assembly of Victoria has been elected by Community to listen to, advocate and negotiate on behalf of mob — and together, we’ve delivered what previous generations fought for.

In 2026, the next Assembly will be elected to represent First Peoples across Victoria. The strength in Treaty is simple to understand: Aboriginal people are the experts on our own lives and decisions about Aboriginal communities, cultures and country made by Aboriginal people means better outcomes.
