I’m Standing Strong for Our Community’s Future.
I’m Nakia Firebrace, a proud Wamba Wamba, Yorta Yorta & Wadi Wadi Man of the Riverina, living in Naarm.
I’ve dedicated my life to community justice—working with ACCO’s youth justice programs, DJCS Youth Detention Centres, and the Department of Transport in senior roles. Currently, I serve as Chairperson of the Wamba Wemba Aboriginal Corporation.
I know firsthand the challenges our community and our services face when misunderstood or and more importantly, I’m aware on how to challenge and implement structures for systems to create real, lasting change—from early childhood through to adulthood supports. For us, Community, Culture, and Caring for Country aren’t just words—they’re the spiritual ties that keep us connected to our roots and Country.
Our self-determination, ways of living, and voices deserve respect and recognition. It’s our birthright, and I will stand firm to fight for and protect it through the Treaty process and continue to advocate for Our community.
Let’s unite and push forward together for the respect and future our people deserve. Support me as your Community Treaty voice.
