It’s been the honour of my life representing the Northeast as a signatory to Australia’s first Treaty; a responsibility I’ve respected and never taken lightly.
Now the responsibility shifts from securing Treaty to protecting it, strengthening it, and ensuring it delivers outcomes for generations to come.
Caring for TREATY is like caring for COUNTRY. It requires discipline, protection, and the right people with the right skills to achieve real outcomes. When we care for it well, it nurtures and sustains us. The benefits of Treaty are up to us and what our community invest into it.
Now, more than ever, we must turn progress into tangible results. We must use the new powers we have gained through Treaty to their fullest.
Too many of our people remain locked up, disadvantaged, disconnected with our community and ACCOs left to pick up the pieces of government inaction.
We must hold government accountable through Nginma Ngainga Wara, strengthen community-led approaches, and invest in culturally centred prevention, support and healing. By resourcing programs that build connection and wellbeing, we can break cycles of disadvantage and deliver lasting change.
I’m asking for your vote so I can continue fighting for the outcomes our people deserve.
