My name is Leslie (Lelly) Bamblett. I am a proud Yorta Yorta, Bangerang, Warlpiri and Wiradjuri man, born in Melbourne and raised in Shepparton. My culture and strong connection to community have guided my life and work.
As a former VFL and AFL footballer, I carried the values of discipline, teamwork and leadership into more than 42 years of supporting Aboriginal communities across Victoria through advocacy, education, youth development and family support.
I also strongly advocate for disability rights. As I was a full time carer for my wife, I understand the challenges families face navigating systems and accessing support.
Standing for Treaty is a continuation of my lifelong commitment to community and working toward a stronger future for our people and generations to come.
