Leanne Fary

Candidate for the
Gunditjmara

I am nominating for Gellung Warl in the North West Region. I’m a proud Gunditjmara woman and spent my childhood in Melbourne, now living in Bendigo, where I’ve lived for the past 46 years.

I believe deeply in the strength, resilience, and rights of our people and carry the responsibility of representing grassroots voices. My lifelong connections across Victoria have shaped who I am and continue to guide how I work, listen, and lead. I’m grounded in community expectations, voices, and priorities, and carry them with respect and responsibility, having continuously advocated for improved outcomes for our people working across both government and the ACCO sector throughout my career, always with integrity, honesty, accountability and guided by our people.

I commit to elevating Aboriginal voices and creating pathways where our people can determine decisions that affect our lives, our families, and our future. I stand for decision-making that is community-led, culturally safe, and grounded in truth-telling. I am nominating because I can contribute meaningfully & uphold our values and work collaboratively to ensure Treaty reflects the aspirations of all our mobs.

Treaty is an historic opportunity-one that demands transparent leadership, strong cultural grounding, and a clear vision.
