My name is Jika Lovett. I’m a proud Gunditjmara, Gunggari and Kamilaroi man, with strong connections to Yorta Yorta Country, currently living in Shepparton.
Family, culture, and connection to Country guide everything I do. I’m standing for this position because our people deserve to be heard, respected, and backed by real action.
I come from generations of community service, and I carry that responsibility with pride. I’m not afraid to ask hard questions, speak honestly, and most importantly listen.
As a young man raising two kids, I know our voices are too often overlooked. That drives me to challenge the status quo and work alongside Elders and community to ensure decisions reflect all generations.
My experience spans justice, health, and land management. I’ve worked as a prison officer and seen firsthand how the system impacts our people and the need for change. I’m studying nursing to help create real change in Aboriginal health and play my part in closing the gap. I’ve also worked in Caring for Country, restoring landscapes and protecting our environment for future generations.
If you believe in strong voices and real outcomes for our people, I respectfully ask for your vote.
Let’s walk this journey together.
