Belinda Briggs

My name is Belinda Briggs. I was born and raised on Yorta Yorta Woka and have been shaped and inspired by my family — my parents, Nan, Gramps, aunts, uncles and cousins — and by the wider community and Elders whose guidance informs my work every day. With the support of my partner Brad, a Kurnai man, and our family, I am standing as a community-elected member for the North-East of Victoria.

I have always served in paid and unpaid roles, including nearly ten years as a board member at Kaiela Arts and over 30 years as a member of Rumbalara FNC. My work reflects a deep commitment to our families and community. My experience spans language revival, the arts and cultural spaces, and community governance, grounded in accountability to our families, Elders and community.

I understand how to work across systems while carrying our voices with integrity. I understand both the challenges and opportunities ahead, and I am committed to transforming systems that do not serve our people so they better reflect our values and protect our rights and future.
