Andrew Thorpe

Candidate for the
Gunnai, Gunditjmara

I am a proud Gunnai and Gunditjmara man, a born warrior walking in the footsteps of the strong leaders before me. I carry their strength, resilience and responsibility into all that I do.

I am a father, foster carer and mental health advocate. For over 20 years I have worked in construction, using my position to create opportunities for mob and challenge tokenism in spaces where our voices have been overlooked. I now facilitate AMHFA and create programs to better the lives of our mob.

I am deeply passionate about our people’s social and emotional wellbeing. A strong future depends on prioritising mental health today and that cannot be overlooked.

If elected as your South East representative, my priority will be ensuring all community voices are heard, respected and strongly advocated for. True representation means listening to everyone, and amplifying your message to the level it deserves to be at.

We know that Treaty is critical to our future. It is about truth telling, justice, self-determination and securing real outcomes for our people. We must approach Treaty with unity, strength, and a clear focus on protecting our rights and opportunities for generations to come.
