My name is Troy Austin. I am a proud Gunditjmara man, born and raised in Naarm. For decades, I have worked tirelessly for our community, listening, advocating and turning up when it matters. I have represented our people across many boards and committees, always guided by integrity, passion and pride.
I am a current member of the First Peoples’ Assembly of Victoria. During my term, I have stayed committed and present, maintaining a 97% attendance rate across more than 134 meetings.
We walk in the footsteps of our Elders and ancestors. We honour them by strengthening our cultures and languages, growing economic opportunities, improving social and emotional wellbeing and standing firm to stop Deaths in Custody and the removal of our children.
We have signed Treaty, but the work does not stop there. Treaty is about truth telling, healing and holding government to account pushing beyond policy promises to deliver real outcomes for First Peoples.
Real change comes from strong cultural foundations: honest leadership, community engagement, cultural strength and economic opportunity. I am proud of what we have built so far and remain passionate about the powers Treaty will return to our community for future generations.
