Nellie Flagg

Candidate for the
Wemba Wemba, Barapa Barapa, Dja Dja Wurrung, Boon Wurrung

I’m Nellie Flagg.

A proud Wemba Wemba, Barapa Barapa, Dja Dja Wurrung and Boon Wurrung woman, living on Wadda Wurrung Country. I am a founding member of the Wathaurong Aboriginal Cooperative and have proudly served community for over 40 years.

My life has been shaped by our history, our resilience, and the strength of our Ancestors. I grew up unable to practise culture or learn language from my father under threat of being taken away. That experience has driven my commitment to justice, healing and self‑determination.

I’ve worked alongside our people across health, justice, education, family services and cultural education, including roles with Aboriginal organisations, hospitals, governments and community-controlled services.

I’m standing for Treaty because our people deserve more than promises.

We deserve truth. We deserve respect. We deserve outcomes led by our people.

I will listen. I will speak up. I will stand strong for our Elders, our families and future generations.
