I am Francis “Frankie Dabruz” Dunne, an Aboriginal Owner and Traditional Owner connected first and foremost to the Boorooberongal Nation in New South Wales (Liverpool, Richmond and Blacktown districts).
In Victoria, I am a confirmed Native Title Holder for the Gunditjmara, Eastern Maar, Gunaikurnai Peoples and with Bidawal First Nations.
My lineage traces to Chief Cooman, Bennelong, and early Aboriginal land grant holders Colebee (1819) and Maria Gilbert (1833). My Uncles, Jock and Graeme Austin, helped build the foundations of Aboriginal health and justice services in Victoria.
In 2023, I stood with my mother and grandmother at Logan’s Beach during Federal Court recognition proceedings affirming our continuing connection to Country.
I am standing for the Assembly to advocate for recognition of Private Property Rights and Vested Crown Grants, transparent auditing of Section 284 mineral royalties linked to the 1851 Gold Rush lands, stronger Treaty outcomes centred on economic participation, and governance reform to ensure Traditional Owner bodies hold meaningful authority in land and resource oversight for future generations.
