Claudette Lovett

Candidate for the
Gunditjmara

Ngata (Hello),

I am Claudette Lovett a strong proud Gunditjmara Woman, living on my Great Grandmother Hannah MacDonald’s Country.

I am representing South West Division of Gunditjmara.

I was born in Western Australia and returned to my father’s Country Claude Lovett, also raised by, grandparents Herbert and Emma Lovett along with my siblings.

My career has been with Mob at different levels and stages of engagement including in Government funded programs to advance a lifestyle which has been difficult for our Mob.

We are a self-determine culture who have been challenged by stigmas. It’s important to have the right cohesive strategy to keep moving forward. Looking back shows us the trail blazers and history of what was and why progress to live a healthy life style though Treaty.

It is the now which will shape the future of First Nations People. With the First Nations Assembly that have come before us, we have and are ready to advance to the next stage of Treaty not only for First Nations People but encourage allies to travel this journey so we can shape a better tomorrow.

It’s our Ancestors our Elders our children who are our future.
