My name is Iree Paul, and I am a proud Wamba Wamba, Wadi Wadi, Wotjobaluk, Dja Dja Wurrung and Taungurung woman. My identity is grounded in my family, my Elders and the strength of our communities across North West Victoria.
I am standing for the First Peoples’ Assembly because our children, our families and our Elders deserve real change now. As a mother, I carry the responsibility of paving a stronger path for the next generation. I want our young people to grow up grounded in culture, confident in identity and connected to language and Country. Treaty must go beyond promises. It must deliver outcomes that break cycles of generational trauma, create opportunity, restore pride and build lasting strength in our communities.
My focus is clear: stronger education outcomes, language reclamation, and the active rebuilding and continuation of our culture. When our languages are spoken and our culture is lived, healing happens. Cycles are broken. Communities rise.
Treaty is about truth, justice and self-determination. It must deliver measurable change, real accountability and lasting impact, and I am ready to do the work to ensure it does.
